Are Digital Badges Worth It?

As this year closes, I’m thinking about the successes of 2020 despite all the challenges, and it feels very satisfying to finally deliver an essential new professional development tool to our folks in the construction industry.

I’m talking about the recently launched USGBC digital badge for construction professionals called the Green Builder badge!

This micro-credential demonstrates competencies in various areas related to construction practices performed with special conditions related to environmental and safety standards and regulations, along with best-practices documented with the LEED rating system. 

Digital Badges: What it is and Why is it Important?

Working in close collaboration between the USGBC Education Team and the Clark Team, we contributed extensive “green” construction knowledge and expertise, and many of our best practices that our top Sustainability Steering Committee members have learned on the job whilst delivering our best-in-class green building projects.

Ultimately, the Clark team created one of the first courses contributing to the initial curriculum for this new digital badge, enabling our company to demonstrate its leadership in industry best practices further.

As Clark employees, everyone with access to our USGBC education benefits can enjoy training on the USGBC Education portal at no additional cost. And because the Green Builder badge is earned by completing at least three courses from this education playlist, this means that everyone at Clark is eligible to earn the digital badge whether or not you have a LEED credential.

How can I earn the Green Builder badge with Education @USGBC?

What’s best of all is that this Green Builder badge will help qualify any construction professional industry-wide, potentially differentiating themselves from less effective contractors that bid on the same projects. Taken all together, I DO emphatically believe that this and all digital badges are worth it! Go earn this one!
